Dr. Abidullah A Ghazi

Eulogy of Dr. Abidullah A. Ghazi

“Every soul shall taste death.” (3:185)

It is with a heavy heart that we inform all of IQRA’ friends, supporters, and followers that our beloved co-founder, Dr. Abidullah Ghazi, returned to his Lord early this morning, surrounded by the wife and family that he loved so dearly. Dr. Ghazi was a fixture in America’s Muslim community and a pioneer in providing quality Islamic education to our children. He spent a greater part of his life working solely for the pleasure of Allah Almighty and love for His Messenger (s), and his efforts literally touched the lives of hundreds of thousands, if not millions. He will surely be missed by his wife of nearly sixty years, Dr. Tasneema, his children, his grandchildren, the staff of IQRA’ and all of those who knew him. May Allah accept everything Dr. Ghazi did for the sake of his Creator, overlook his shortcomings and grant him the shade of the blessed Messenger of Allah (s), who he loved so much in this life!

We will post more about this great Muslim’s remarkable life and contributions throughout the coming weeks as we enter the gates of the blessed month of Ramadan.

From Rashid Ghazi:

Appreciate everyone’s prayers and messages regarding the passing of my father, Dr. Abidullah Al-Ansari Ghazi. We are blessed to have so many family members and friends who care.

We know many people wanted to attend the funeral but we were limited to 50 total due to COVID policy.

This Friday, April 16th from 2PM-6PM CST we will be holding a casual visitation at his grave site in Memorial Cemetary (Skokie, IL) for those that would like to visit. My mother and Saba will be there from 2-4PM while Suhaib and I will be there from 2-6PM.

If attending please make sure to wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Directions are attached.

Thank you. Rashid

“Remembering Abba: A Son’s Eulogy | Rashid Ghazi Pays Tribute to Dr. Abidullah A. Ghazi”

Rashid Ghazi remembers his father in a touching eulogy that celebrates the life of Dr. Abidullah A. Ghazi. Allah says in the Qur’an, “When you have decided on a course of action, put your trust in God: God loves those who put their trust in Him.” (Al-‘Imran 3:159) To this, Rashid Ghazi comments, “And I can’t think of a greater example of living that verse in the Qur’an than my dad.”

Dr. Abidullah Ghazi, the co-founder of IQRA’ International Educational Foundation and distinguished MCC member, passed away peacefully shortly after midnight on April 11, 2021.

“This is indeed news that touches my heart with sadness and multiple memories over the decades. When I embarked on my journey in Islam, in the 70s as a Muslim, I was in serious need of reading materials….”
